What to book: a day at the races with Daphne’s

The Chelsea restaurant is bringing together some of the biggest names in horse-racing for a one-off dining event

Daphne’s, the much-loved Italian restaurant in the heart of Chelsea, is set to host an evening of fine dining that will celebrate the wonderful world of horse-racing.

The one-off event will begin with a champagne reception, allowing diners to mingle with the night’s guests of honour. These will include some of the equestrian world’s best-known figures, such as Britain’s most decorated female jockey, Hayley Turner OBE, alongside Harry Herbert of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing and the eminent racehorse trainer Andrew Balding of Park House Stables, Highclere. Next will come a fresh, seasonal three-course dinner prepared by the chef Michael Brown, featuring dishes such as tuna carpaccio with pickled radish, avocado and yuzu.

Between courses, diners are invited to listen to the panel of horse-racing experts as they discuss topics such as how to own a racehorse and the best way to read a race card. With Glorious Goodwood almost upon us, the speakers will also offer advice on what to wear and how to master the art of betting before guests take their chances at the event in early August.
