What to book: Cinema in the Snow at Hackney Showrooms

Christmas classics in cosseting, CS Lewis-inspired surrounds

Dust off your reindeer jumpers and woollen socks because all of your favourite yuletide films have found a suitably festive home this season. Next month, Pop Up Screens will launch an immersive cinema experience in a lavishly decorated east-London setting, breathing new life into the comforting Christmas movies we love to rewatch year on year.

Upon arrival at Hackney Showrooms, you will pass through a wardrobe into a Narnia-themed winter wonderland complete with snow-rimed pines and twinkling fairy lights, before settling down with a mulled wine to enjoy a classic Christmas film. The wide-ranging programme allows you to dash around Bedford Falls with James Stewart (It’s A Wonderful Life), snuggle up in Kate Winslet’s charming Surrey cottage (The Holiday) or drop in on Hugh Grant’s prime-ministerial press conference (Love Actually). Meanwhile, little ones can enjoy matinee screenings of children's films including ElfHome Alone and The Muppet Christmas Carol.

Cinema in the Snow is at Hackney Showroom, London E8, from 13 to 23 December.
