A Dog Bed For Fans Of Mid-Century Design

Bark and Miao’s Padpod makes a stylish addition to a room scheme

If you’re looking for proof of our nation’s affection for our pets, you need only look at the number of inventive pet products frequently popping up on the market.

The latest is the launch of Padpod, by British start-up Bark & Miao. Reminiscent of the iconic mid-century Ball Chair, designed by Eero Aarnio, it aims to reposition the humble cat or dog bed as a design-led piece of furniture that you’d happily include as part of a room scheme.

The hand-made white gloss oval shell sits high off the ground providing a secure cocooning effect for your cat or small dog. The interior is padded with a luxurious hand-upholstered interior made from 100 per cent Laneve New Zealand wool, and includes a memory foam or duck down cushion for extra comfort.

Choose from a blue, pink or green interior, or opt for the bespoke service, where you can choose from up to 20 different interior upholstery schemes.

The padpod is available to buy at www.barkandmiao.com as well as at the Purple Bone pet boutique on the King's Road in Chelsea and the Dog Bar, Miami Beach. It costs £595 or £895 for the ‘colour customised’ version.
