What to book: London Restaurant Festival

The annual gastronomic event is back, with its restaurant-hopping tours, cookery classes and more

This October, the London Restaurant Festival returns to the capital. Following the success of last year’s event, which saw more than 50,000 people visit 300 restaurants, the festival is the perfect opportunity for diners to discover the city’s burgeoning food scene.

New for this year is the Restaurant Recipes series, where participants will spend time learning to prepare chef-quality dishes at a leading culinary teaching institution, such as the Michel Roux Cookery School, before enjoying a dining experience at the restaurant where they are usually served.

Those looking to prolong their festival experience can book tickets for the Ultimate Gastronomic Weekend, which gives them the opportunity to stay in the luxurious five-star Andaz Hotel in the heart of London. This is followed by a mouth-watering four-course lunch at the Michelin-starred restaurant Benares, hosted by Atul Kochhar.

Throughout the event there’s the chance to take part in restaurant-hopping tours of neighbourhoods that are becoming increasingly popular gastronomic destinations, such as St James’s and Devonshire Square. Alternatively, take part in a Champagne Gourmet Odyssey to visit three top restaurants in north, south, east or west London. Finally, cinephiles will enjoy the Eat Film event, which combines an exclusive screening with a gourmet dinner in the Masonic Temple at Andaz Hotel.

The London Restaurant Festival will run from 1 to 31 October. Tickets are available online and by telephone at 020 7834 6013.
