T&C tests: 45 Jermyn St
Based in the heart of St James’s, 45 Jermyn St is the perfect spot for indulging post-Christmas shopping or for a cocktail at the bar. With a dose of old-school glamour, the restaurant welcomes guests with low lighting and intimate booths – a great place to relax and enjoy the decadent menu.
Known for showcasing the finest seasonal ingredients, for its latest menu 45 Jermyn St. has hand-selected white truffles from Italy and brought them to plate in the capital to enjoy over the festive season. We were treated to a menu of four truffle dishes, showcasing the exceptional ingredient in its finest form.
For a main dish, try the homemade tagliatelle cooked in butter and finished with shaved truffle and grated parmesan at the table. Plus, there’s a tasty 24-month parmesan and truffle risotto finished with a splash of champagne. New this year, the truffle dessert sees custard made with malt extract set with caramelised white chocolate and topped with shaved truffles at the table.
However, the star of the show was the toasted cheese sandwich. The epitome of comfort food, it oozes with raclette, chosen to complement the truffle with its strong but delicate taste. Before toasting, the chefs coat homemade sourdough with freshly whipped butter laden with truffle shavings and then top it with freshly shaved truffle as a finishing touch. The dish pairs perfectly with a glass of vintage champagne from the excellent wine list.
