The A List: 21 April

London’s new menswear destination, plus elegant millinery and a chic Roman holiday

Harvey Nichols Menswear This department has finally opened, and with more than 200 brands spread over two floors, it is decidedly London’s new destination for boys in the know.

Victoria Grant Millinery The ‘season’ is upon us – and that includes Royal Ascot, of course. Don’t even think about buying a hat off the rack: instead, visit this celebrity milliner’s Notting Hill studio and marvel at her magnificent creations. If you want to be the belle of the ball, this is where you need to start.

Press smoothies You’ve probably tried Press’s brilliant greenhouse juices, but did you know that the brand now offers a made-to-order smoothie range at Selfridges? Go for the avocado, hemp and almond-butter option – it’s fantastically filling.

Stella McCartney’s MFM T-shirts The designer has released two fun T-shirts whose sale will benefit the McCartney family’s campaign for Meat Free Mondays.

Exhibition: ‘Ten Landmark Photographs’ In conjunction with Phillips, London Arts Studies will host a lecture by Ben Street, covering works by everyone from Henri Cartier-Bresson to Diane Arbus and Dorothea Lange, on the evening of 17 May. Expect champagne and canapés, followed by a preview of the photography show.

Come il Latte, Rome This gelateria redefines the way we think about the sweet stuff. Imagine melted chocolate poured into a cone that is then filled with gelato and dribbled with bit more chocolate for luck. When in Rome…

Al Moro, Rome To eat like a local in Rome, you need to find out where the Romans go – and this is it. On the menu are seasonal grilled artichokes and the best zabaglione in town.

Dolmen Factory, Rome For those of you who like vintage neon signs, this shop is a goldmine. It’s full of fun, quirky items for your home and office, along with an array of examples of fabulous signage.
