The A List

Autumn’s must-reads, beauty buys and a mobile ice-cream store – all in Alisa Swidler’s top picks

Lick Me I’m Delicious This mobile ice-cream outfit has introduced a fabulous party trick in the form of a ‘whirlwind candyfloss spinner’ (pictured above). It runs at 60 miles per hour and shapes your candyfloss into gorgeous designs that come in delicious flavours: strawberries and cream, vanilla mocha and, of course, banoffee pie.

The Concentrate by Crème de la Mer I am a serious convert. For years, I ignored the press about this brand’s products, but this lavish line is worth every penny.

Charlotte’s Book An online compendium of recommendations for doctors and procedures across NYC, LA and now even London. A great resource when travelling abroad and a brilliant weekly newsletter to boot.

The 1960s: Photographed by David Hurn (£29.95, Reel Art Press) This volume is the first anthology dedicated to Welsh photographer David Hurn’s work from one of his most prolific periods. Hurn’s portfolio is a unique blend of celebrity and anonymity, encompassing both Hollywood screen idols and East End sunseekers. A must-have for my coffee-table collection.

Peach and Lily This fabulous website offers all of Korea’s best beauty products, including my favourite: May Coop’s Raw Sauce, an amazing cream made from maple-tree sap.

The Loved Ones by Mary-Beth Hughes (£17, Grove Atlantic) Set in 1960s and 1970s NYC and London, this compelling novel delves into a family’s almost-perfect lives and their struggle to start anew. Impossible to put down.

Love Raw Alkaline Greens Everyone gorgeous is on an alkaline diet. This chia-based powder is an all-in-one superfood blend mixed with raw spirulina and wheatgrass – a perfect addition to your daily green juices.

Topshop Petite Of course you’ve been to Topshop, but have you taken your 12-year-old? I whizzed through the petite section with mine and found some well-priced shirts and skinny jeans that she begged me for – who knew?

Barbara the Slut and Other People by Lauren Holmes (£14, Riverhead Books) In these 10 unforgettable stories, Holmes masters the art of spinning tales around sex, family and relationships while revealing vulnerable and flawed selves.

Glycolic Fix Night Pads Extreme by Nip + Fab These cleansing pads are all the rage in LA. I, too, am impressed by the power of glycolic, salicylic and lactic acids to brighten my skin overnight.
