The A List

Alisa Swidler’s must-haves: a pet-friendly airport, a postcard app and the world’s best hair mask

Glyndebourne This season, do all you can to see Carmen (until 11 July; limited availability). Bring a brilliant Fortnum & Mason hamper with you and arrive early to check out White Cube’s pop-up gallery. Consider becoming a Glyndebourne sponsor, too.

Francesco Clemente I have always loved him and India is my absolute favourite country, so Clemente’s watercolours of India equal heaven. See 108 of his works as part of the ‘Emblems of Transformation’ exhibition at Blain Southern gallery (until 4 July; 4 Hanover Square, London W1).

Hermès vintage auction Enough said? Hosted by Artcurial on 22 July (one day only!), this auction is the place to find that red croc Birkin bag you’ve always wanted.

The Ark This ‘animal airport terminal’ is set to open at NYC’s JFK airport in early 2016. It’s not just for dogs and cats, either: horses and livestock will also get VIP treatment, including veterinary care and access to swimming pools.

Touchnote Yes, I still send postcards! But this (rather addictive) app lets you upload photos and messages that are then sent out as postcards on your behalf.

ZelectricBug This California-based company retrofits VW classic Beetles from 1958 to 1966 with electric motors for a cool £34k.

Lorenzo Quinn More than two years in the making, Quinn’s epic show of marble and resin sculptures – including ‘Canned Society’, pictured above – is on now at the Halcyon gallery (until 27 July; 24 Bruton Place, London W1). Quinn identifies the square and angular world with men, and the rounded and circular world with women. The sculptures – as well as Quinn’s poetry, which accompanies them – highlight how the two worlds can both work against and complement each other.

Pink Hair & Scalp Mud by Espa This is the best hair mask in the world, especially for those who have had one too many blow-drys. Try sleeping in it for the best effect.

Philip Treacy in Conversation This talk at the V&A Museum doesn’t take place until 30 November, but I can guarantee that it will sell out way before that. The legendary milliner celebrates the publication of his book and discusses his career with fashion editor Marion Hume.

Charlotte Tilbury Face Mask This new product is seriously good for dehydrated skin. Stocked at Fenwick, among other stores, it’s set to hit the States soon and there’s bound to be a waiting list.
